The Following game Honey, I Joined A Cult was provided to me for free by the developers and publishers. Therefore I would like to thank the developer/publisher for providing
a free copy of the game to play on my stream.
The following Live Stream Footage of Honey, I Joined A Cult is either an early access version of the game. Therefore,
the footage you see may or may not be featured in the final version of the game, also there may be some noticeable bugs in the game.
In this Live Stream,
Ready Set Indie Games plays Honey, I Joined A Cult on PC.
Honey, I Joined A Cult is a simulation sandbox game in which you get to play the leader of a cult. Yes,
you read that right you get to play as the head of a cult. However, before we go more into the review I would like to take the time to thank Sole Survivor Games and Team 17 for providing me with a full copy of the game to play on stream as well as for writing
The game starts off with your first cult, getting raided by the cops and in like true fashion you do what any good con...erh any respectful member
of the community would do after getting raided. You run off to another town and start your foundation from the ground up because why stop a good thing when it's good. So you move onto a new town and the tutorial explains how to set up the compound. I enjoyed
setting up the compound and love how it makes it really simple, such as adding the items for a specific room button, so you don't have to search through all of the objects to find out what goes into a room that you build.
The game is pretty self-explanatory, you have to recruit those that worship to help keep the compound running and afloat. You can set up a schedule for those who stay on the compound and even assign
jobs for them. Another cool thing I enjoyed about the game is that you have to research things in order to open them up, such as missions to send your members out on, you also have as the head of your cult research ways that you want to take the cult. Rather
it is down a dark path or whatever your heart desires you as the lead has to research those methods.
In terms of controls, the game uses keyboard and mouse
controls and they are okay. As for me, I would like to have the ability to use the mouse and drag it to the edges to move the camera, but it is defaulted to WASD keys to move the camera around but it doesn't move fluid enough for me, so I do think adding the
ability to move your mouse to the edges of the screen could move the camera and make it a little more bit of a flow. Also, one of the jobs is maintenance and they are supposed to clean, and if items break you are supposed to be able to fix them. I think I
was a little confused on how this mechanic worked because originally it tells you to click on the maintenance person then right-click on the object to fix it. I thought the first time I played the item dropped a menu for fixing it, but now I think it just
if you click the maintenance person and right-click the item they go to fix it. So I would just like a better understanding of the mechanic. I like the idea of right-clicking on the object dropping a menu, but if it's simple just click and click I am okay
with that too.
Overall, I enjoyed Honey, I Joined A Cult again the game is currently in Early Access, but for an Early Access game, I will say that it is certainly
heading in the right direction and I can't wait to play more of it.
