In this Live Stream, Ready Set Indie Games plays Rainbow Billy: The Curse of the Leviathan Demo on PC.
This is the Steam Next Fest Demo of Rainbow Billy: The Curse of the
Leviathan and therefore is either an alpha version or beta version demo of the game. Therefore, the footage you see may or may not be featured in the final version of the game, also there may be some noticeable bugs in the game.
Rainbow Billy: The Curse of the Leviathan is a platformer adventure game in which you play as Billy who has a lot of color in their heart, and so the World of Imagination decides to put on a parade for them. This in turn wakes up the mean and nasty
Leviathan, who is tired of Billy and their happy life and wants Billy to grow up and face the world. So the Leviathan strips all of the colors from the World of Imagination and Which Billy, their boat named Friend-Ship, An angry fishing rod name Rodrigo set
out on the quest to make others feel better to restore the color back to their hearts and eventually to all of The World of Imagination.
I will admit that Rainbow Billy: The Curse of the Leviathan has been on my
wishlist for quite some time, and so I was ecstatic when there was a demo to play of the game. One of the main things that drew me to Rainbow Billy, was the fact that it had that old cartoon-style art style, and I when games present those old-school cartoon
vibes, I have to play them. I also like that Rainbow Billy uses they/them pronouns and its not something you see very often, now I could be wrong, and if I am wrong I accept that but I can't think of many that come to mind, I mean yes there is Undertale with
Frisk and Chara but a lot of other eludes me.
The controls for the game were pretty solid and I didn't have much of a complaint with the controls. I also liked the game play which combined platforming with some-what
of an RPG or adventure type. You visit islands and you have to talk to the creatures and make them feel better, to help restore the color to their hearts. In addition in order to level up the creatures, you must provide them with gifts and feed them as well.
So that Billy and the creatures become the best of friends.
Overall, a very great game, and I rather enjoyed it and highly recommend adding this to your wishlist to pick it up when it comes out.
