The Following game Of Bird and Cage was provided to me for free by the developers/publishers of the game. I would like to
thank the developers/publishers for providing a free copy of the game to play on my stream.
In this Live Stream, Ready Set Indie Games plays Of Bird and Cage on PC.
Of Bird and Cage is a Symphonic Metal Album that is accompanied by a game. The story is an interesting one as you play as Gitta, a 25-year-old who has a drug problem and whose life seems to be in shambles. Gitta is addicted to the designer drug GSVB
and goes through what those who have addictions tend to go through. You can either have Gitta face her demons or either have her go blissfully through life without paying attention to them because this is what Gitta takes the drug for. She takes it to forget
about the horrors she has seen.
Based on some of the choices you get to choose from it shows you that Gitta is willing to do whatever it is to have her drug, but again you as the player can stop her from these
decisions. Gitta even goes as far as looking for a random drug dealer who has her drug and ends up getting kidnap by him. Now, I'm not saying this is all Gitta's fault because again the drug has a hold on her and when you have that strong of an addiction you
have to want to get help in order to overcome it.
So the story is compelling and I absolutely loved the music in the game. I felt that the music was fantastic and I would listen to the OST outside of the game.
Then there came the gameplay.
I will admit that I was not a big fan of the gameplay of the game. I played the game with the controller and it was a bit awkward for my hands. Doing some of the quick-time events with
the controller. The game can also be played with Keyboard and Mouse as well, but I choose to play with a controller and I can honestly say that if you are playing with the controller at least in my opinion you will be doomed to fail. So this is a game I would
recommend playing with the keyboard and mouse if you want to succeed at the quick-time events.
I understand the game is supposed to move at a fast pace, but to me, I felt it moved in too fast of a pace. By the
time you realized you were in an event or a situation the timer had already gone down half the way, and I get that it's supposed to be quick to go with the story of the game, but it caused me to fail a lot because I simply wasn't quick enough. Again this was
also me playing with the controller and not with the keyboard and mouse.
Other than that I do recommend Of Bird and Cage if you like symphonic metal and are looking for a story-rich game. Just like I said the
Music and Story are what to me shines in this game.
