Disclaimer: This is the LudoNarraCon 2021 Demo of the game and therefore it is best to realize that the following gameplay footage of Spiritfarer is either an alpha version, beta version, early access, or, demo of the game. Therefore, the footage you see may or may not be featured in the final version of the game, also there may be some noticeable bugs in the game.

Although this is the Demo of Spiritfarer I would like to take the time to say that the game is available across all platforms. So some of the issues I may address here could have very well been adjusted in the final version of the game.

Spiritfarer tells the story of Stella, a ferry master who helps those cross over by finishing their unfinished business. The game appears to play like that of a management game in which you do things around the boat to help those who are looking to crossover, and then they tell you what they need in order to crossover, you then set course to said place to carry out the task and then once all is said and done you have to send them to the afterlife.

I thought that the game was beautiful and that some of the mechanics were a little rough, but again this was the alpha build of the demo. So again this could have been changed in the full version and sometimes in demos, they will cut out certain features so you can get straight to the gameplay. When I  was crafting the house for the meditation guru who appears to be a snake as the characters didn’t seem to have names in Demo. I accidentally did the garden because I didn't see the notification for their home. So it would be nice if the notification was a bit bigger.

Another thing the game does feature some flashing lights with lightning storms. It flashes from time to time and there should be a photosensitivity warning added to the game, to let people know that there are flashing lights in the game. The storm doesn’t last long in the demo, but if it is longer in the game then that is something that needs to be added.

The controls were great. It uses either a keyboard and mouse or a controller. I opted for a controller and Stella seems to move pretty well and I didn’t have any hiccups with the movement. Another thing, I want to say is that the game is very beautiful. Again, this is a game that involves death, but the Demo did not allow for you to get to know the characters to have a connection, whereas I believe the Full Version of the game will probably allow for you to get to know the characters.

Overall, for the Demo, it was a good game. Again the full version is currently available on PC, macOS, Linux via Steam, Humble Bundle, GOG, Itch.io as well as Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, and addition to being sold on XBOX One it is a part of the game pass ultimate. If you are interested in play Spirtfarer then I recommend picking it up.
