Disclaimer: This is the Ludo Narra Con 2021 Demo of the game and therefore it is best to realize that the following gameplay footage of Kraken Academy is either an alpha version, beta version, early access or, demo of the game. Therefore, the footage you see may or may not be featured in the final version of the game, also there may be some noticeable bugs in the game.

Kraken Academy is a hilarious fourth-wall-breaking pixel art game that is due to release in 2021. In Kraken Academy, you take on the role of our protagonist who along with his sister has come to Kraken Academy, a school that looks beautiful, well at least in the brochures it did. The Protagonist’s sister gets into the Drama Club, While we are accepted into the Music Club. The two siblings split off and we make our way to the Music Club portion. We meet Broccoli Girl, another student at Kraken Academy and the music club who shows us around campus and introduces us to the other students in the Music Club, in which the protagonist finds out his true purpose. The game has a lot of comical moments and there is never a dull moment in the game. To keep from spoiling the demo anymore I will keep the story portion here.

The game uses both a keyboard and a controller. Being on autopilot I decided to play the game with the controller and the controller is pretty fluid and I have no complaints when it comes to the controls of the game. Now that I think about it I don’t have many complaints about the demo at all. I think this is one of those rare demos where there aren’t too many bugs and that’s pretty impressive.

As I said the game is quirky and has a comical feel to it, but does still offer real game elements to it. Like after the Protangnist is giving his mission, it gives the game more context. I also really enjoyed the pixel art in the game as well as the still art. You can see for sure that a lot of work went into Kraken Academy. I enjoyed the story and was upset when the demo ended, although the developers manage to lessen the blow with humor.

Kraken Academy is due to come out sometime in 2021 and I highly recommend playing the Demo and wishlisting this. If you do play the demo and enjoy it, you will be happy to know that the game will pick up back where you left off from the demo, which I thought was cool and appreciate when developers allow you to continue your experience from where the demo ended.

Overall, if you like story-driven games, that have the fourth-wall-breaking mechanics and humor then I highly recommend wishlisting Kraken Academy via PC on Steam.
