Disclaimer: Although Cozy Grove is a part of LudoNarraCon 2021 it should be known that the footage in this gameplay video is from the full version of the game and not the Demo.

Cozy Grove is a very beautiful game in which you play as a spirit scout who has been sent to Cozy Grove a hauntingly beautiful island in which you are trying to put to rest the souls of the island to get your scout badge. However, you find out later on that you were supposed to be sent to Cozy Cove and not Grove and on top of that apparently, the ship you came to Cozy Grove has been carried out to sea, so now you are a resident of this island. Can you get along with the other spirits and send them on so that you can get your scout badge.

I did enjoy Cozy Grove as I thought the game was cute and loved the art style of the game. I love the way the character moves around with a sort of bounce and her eyes move from side to side depending on which way they are moving. The game uses a keyboard and mouse as well as a controller and so for my playthrough, I opted into playing with a controller. I will admit the controls are pretty smooth for the game and I had no problems with the controls of the game.

When it comes to gameplay this is a game for the casual gamer. To progress the story you talk to the spirits of the island and do their tasks that they ask of you. One thing I like about doing the task is that they usually ask for you to find an object, and so the game becomes a sort of a hidden object game for a moment until the item has been found. You then return this to the corresponding spirit and they give you a spirit log in which you feed to your flame guide. Depending on how many he needs, he then opens up a pathway that takes you to another spirit who needs help. It should be noted that the game uses a real-time progression. Meaning whatever time it is and day it is, is the same time and day in-game. It takes roughly about 15 minutes to do the story progression stuff and then you have to wait until tomorrow to progress the story bit of the game.

In the meantime, while you wait you can farm around the island by fishing and uncovering plots here and there. Not that there is anything with farming because I love farming games, but I would have loved if there was a little more to do as far as farming goes and with the hidden object aspect of the game. Mind you I am just starting the game and this could be something that opens up later in the game, but I would love to see side quests of some sort that have you find items because that would be very cool, and of course, there’s always the fishing which is easy to do which I am grateful for, because with games like these if the fishing is too complicated it tends to put me off from the game but I like that the fishing is relaxing in this game as well.

If you are looking for a game that you can relax with then I recommend picking up Cozy Grove. Cozy Grove can be picked up on PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation4, and Xbox One for about USD 14.99.
